I am interested in doing business with MISUMI. What do I need to do?

You first need to open an account with MISUMI. Go to Open an Account to download the necessary forms, or call customer service at 1-800-681-7475 ext. 1 to have them faxed to you. We will start the account set-up process as soon as we receive your completed application.

I would like to open a credit card account. Do I still need to set up an account?

Yes. The process is a lot easier and faster, but we still need you to fill out a Customer Profile Form. First, go to Open an Account and follow the instructions. When you reach the page where you can download the necessary PDF documents, select Documents for Credit Card Account.

How long does it take to open an account with MISUMI?

For a credit card account, your account will be active as soon as we receive your customer profile.
For a credit line account, it depends on how soon your bank and trade references answer us. To ensure faster processing, include fax numbers for your bank and trade references. Also, if you are located in IL, CA, TX, or OH, and purchasing for resale, do not forget to include your tax exemption certificate. (D&B credit check report™ is acceptable if you have one.)

How can I find a particular part?

There are three ways to look up a part in our catalogs: by product name(s) or keyword(s), by part no., and by image. If you are using our on-line catalog, type in the product name(s) or keyword(s), or MISUMI part no. in the search field on the left, or click Search by Image. If you are using a printed catalog, use the index at the back of the catalog to search by description or part number, and use the picture list at the beginning of the catalog to search by image. You can also ask for assistance by calling our customer service at 1-800-671-7475 ext. 1.

I have a catalog with Japanese yen pricing. What is the conversion rate to the US dollar?

When can you ship the products?

If you are looking at a catalog with US$ pricing, the shipping date from Chicago is the number of days shown in the catalog after your PO number is received. If you are looking at a catalog with Japanese Yen pricing, then the shipping date from Chicago is the number of days shown in the catalog plus 3 days after your PO number is received. Days are counted as work days not including the order date.
If you already have an SO confirmation, look for the date shown below each item. To see an example, click SO Confirmation Example.

Can I order an item not listed in your catalogs?

If you want our product in a size or version not listed in our catalogs, or need to get an item made by a Japanese manufacturer with no distributor in the US, send us the Special Request Form via on-line or fax us at 1-800-681-7402. Include information such as what the item is, how many you need, special requirements (in case of MISUMI items), and who the manufacturer is (in case of non-MISUMI items). We recommend you to include drawing(s) if explanation is difficult.

Do you stock items?

Since most of our items are sized to your order, we need at least 3 days to ship the product. However, there are exceptions such as many punches and dies, which can be shipped in one day if you order using our Express Service.

How long does it take to get a quote?

We usually send you a quote the same day (or get back to you with information if there is a problem) for standard MISUMI items. For special items, allow at least 24 hours for a quote to be prepared. Note that requests received after our business hours will not be processed until the following day.

How do I place an order? Is there a special form to use?

You can place an order by using our on-line order form. You can also fax us your PO or call us to place an order. For off-line orders, there is no particular form, but please include the following: Company name, PO number, Billing address, Shipping address, Ship-to attention, your Phone & Fax numbers, Product(s) to be ordered, Quantity, Shipping method (UPS Ground, Red, etc.), and whether you want all the items shipped together if the items you are ordering have different shipping dates.

I did not get an SO Confirmation for my order. How can I make sure that my order has been processed?

You should receive your SO Confirmation on the same day, if your PO number is received during our business hours. If you do not get your SO Confirmation within 12 hours, call us to find out whether the order has been received. To help us locate your order faster, state your PO number, order date, and ordered item(s). DO NOT send your order again to avoid duplicate orders.

It depends on which shipping method you choose. For UPS transit time, go to the UPS home page, and follow the link to Transit Time. You will be able to find delivery dates and times for your location.

What shipping method will be used to deliver my order?

The default shipping method is UPS Ground. Specify when ordering if you prefer another method.

Can I expedite the shipment?

You can expedite your shipment as long as the product has not yet been shipped. Contact us immediately if you need to change the shipping method. If you need to expedite production, you can specify Express Service at the time of order. The availability of Express Service varies by product.

How can I get a tracking number for my shipment?

Try Track a Shipment for a UPS shipment, or contact our customer service. Please wait until the day after the scheduled shipping date to allow the information to appear in our system.

How much is the shipping charge?

It depends on how heavy the order is, where you are located, and which shipping method you choose. For the approximate charge for a UPS shipment, take the weight shown on your quote, go to the UPS home page and follow the link to Rate. You will be able to calculate the rates for shipments. The approximate weight on our quote is shown in grams. Divide it by 450 to convert to lbs. (Alternatively, divide the weight in grams by 1000 to get the weight in kgs, then choose kgs as the weight unit when using UPS's rate finder.) The zip code for our warehouse is 60106.

I could not find a product that I know is yours in your on-line search system. What's wrong?

Unfortunately, only Mechanical Factory Automation data is currently available on-line. We will add products from our Press, Plastic Dies, and Tools catalog toward the end of 2003. Wondering where our downloadable PDF Tools catalog went to? It was too huge, so we took it down! (Just ask, and we'll send you a copy on CD-ROM.)
